PathWest COVID drive-through testing facility now open in Murdoch 03 March 2022 WA’s first public community-baseddrive through COVID-19 collection centre is set toopened in March in Murdoch. The facility is located within Murdoch University groundsalong the western side of Murdoch Drive, with the entrance south of the facility via Farm Road, and exit via Discovery Way to the north. The facility consists of three large, dual-lane marquees, a small site office, storage container and staff facilities. The 9000m sq asphalt site is fenced, and security and traffic management personnel are in attendance. Every effort is made to ensure minimal impact on traffic to the university and nearby hospitals. It is expected that when the facility is fully operational it will process four cars per marquee, 12 cars at one time, and testing per car will take approximately six minutes per car dependent on the number of passengers needing testing. A diagnostic success solves 20 year puzzle 22 February 2022 Rare Disease Day is on Monday 28 February and aims to raise awareness about rare diseases (RD) and their impact on people’s lives. Our team at Diagnostic Genomics work on many rare conditions and as Head of Department Dr Dimitar Azmanov said, “Rare disorders are cumulatively common affecting 6-8% of the global population, including 200,000 people in Western Australia, and the majority have a genetic cause.” Receiving a genetic diagnosis for people living with RD is important as it provides power of knowing and access to appropriate management, including family planning and reproduction, offers the possibility to connect with other people with the same experience, and reduces the need for multiple investigations which may be invasive, time-consuming and costly. COVID-19 testing for international travellers 17 January 2022 PathWest now offers COVID-19 PCR testing for International Travellers The test results from this convenient test will be securely emailed to you within 24-48 hours for you to print out and take with you to the airport.There is no referral required from your doctor and no appointment needed. Please be aware this service is only available at selected PathWest Collection Centres. No Medicare rebate is availablefor this test and you will have an out-of-pocket fee of $145 to pay at the time of your test (credit card payments only). It is important to check with your airline, or the local embassy of the country you are travelling to, as to how many days before travel you need to be tested, or if there are any other special testing requirements. It's the most wonderful time of the year! 21 December 2021 What fun and festivity PathWest staff have engaged in over the last few weeks working together to create fantastic entries into our PathWest Christmas Decoration Competition! We were overwhelmed with interest and received thirty entries from throughout our sites and services. The judges managed to visit all entries within QEII Medical Centre and Fiona Stanley Hospital on Friday and assessed online entries from other areas that could not be attended on the day. Everyone went above and beyond and created visual and sometimes interactive spectacles that quite honestly overawed our panel of judges. Our judges rated each entry on originality/creativity, presentation and effort/participation.
