Your Safety

Safety advice

Patient and staff safety is of the utmost importance to PathWest. We undertake a variety of safety measures to ensure the well being and safety of patients attending and staff rostered/working at PathWest collection centres across the state. PathWest has also implemented additional measures, in keeping with public health directives and standards, for COVID-19.

Safety measures at PathWest collection centres

All PathWest collection centres take a range of measures to ensure that the safety of patients and staff is prioritised. PathWest follows the Western Australian Department of Health guidelines for infection control including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well adhering to hygiene requirements.

Our collection staff members undergo training in order to perform professional specimen collection safely, without risk to patients or staff. All PathWest collection centres are National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) accredited against NPAAC requirements. Learn more about PathWest quality management.
