Shoutout to PathWest Albany 13 December 2023 A treating clinician at Denmark Health Service has expressed gratitude to the PathWest Albany staff for their commendable response to an urgent need for red blood cells and fresh frozen plasma. The patient, admitted to the Emergency Department in Denmark, suffered multiple limb fractures, a skull fracture, and severe brain injury. Given the extent of the injuries, resuscitation was challenging due to only one of the patient's four limbs being usable, leading to significant blood loss. The treating clinician believes that the prompt delivery of blood by PathWest staff played a crucial role in the patient's survival and extends thanks to PathWest Albany on behalf of the Emergency Medical team at Denmark.

Delay in NMDA receptor antibody testing 16 October 2023 We have been recently informed of a several week delay in the production of the NMDA receptor antibody test. We have been in close contact with the manufacturers, who have advised that tests will become available in the coming weeks. At this stage, we are hoping to resume routine testing within the next three to four weeks. We do have some limited tests available; these will be restricted to patients in whom there is a high clinical suspicion and urgent clinical need. If this is the case then please contact the Immunopathology Registrar at PathWest QEII, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, to discuss. We thank you for your patience and understanding. More information Please contact the Immunology laboratory at PathWest QEII.
