Chief Scientist visits PathWest

PathWest was pleased to host a visit by Western Australia’s Chief Scientist, Professor Sharath Sriram, and Director of Science Capability and Partnerships from the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification, Dr Michael Banazis.

Chief Pathologist, Professor Priyanthi Kumurasinghe led the tour, accompanied by Deputy Chief Pathologist, Simon Kavanagh and Research and Innovation Co-Directors Richard Allcock and Chisha Sikazwe.

Professor Sriram and Dr Banazis were given an overview of our research and innovation capabilities, including genomic sequencing; a demonstration of how digital tools used in our haemotology laboratory are bridging the gap between metropolitan and regional services by providing timely expert advice where required; and insight into the role of molecular testing in supporting complex case management and personalised medicine.
