Shaping the Future: PathWest Welcomes our 2026 Registrar Intake

Jesse Barbuzza, Clara Ta and Lawrence Wong – new Registrars who have commenced their training in AP at QE11
06/03/2026

PathWest is proud to welcome our latest intake of Registrars. As WA's only public pathology provider, we are committed to investing in the clinical leaders of tomorrow and supporting a positive workplace culture that encourages both personal wellbeing and professional excellence for our Registrars during that journey.

We currently have 66 Registrars across our service, including 12 new starters who joined us this year across various disciplines. Our largest cohort—30 Registrars—is currently training within Anatomical Pathology.

Our commitment to our doctors is reflected in the 2025 AMA Hospital Health Check, where Registrars awarded PathWest an “A” rating for teaching and training. PathWest also received a 95% overall work satisfaction score and an “A” rating as a Recommended Employer—the highest outcomes among all WA Health Service Providers included in the survey

Training at PathWest is vital for the future of WA healthcare. Our program provides:
  • Mentorship: Trainees work directly with experts in disciplines from Anatomical Pathology to Diagnostic Genomics. Anatomical Pathology, Biochemistry, Diagnostic Genomics, Forensic Pathology, Haematology, Immunology and Microbiology
  • Clinical Excellence: Registrars gain experience across a massive statewide network performing over 16 million tests annually.
  • Proven Success: Our trainees consistently achieve high pass rates in Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) exams.
Welcome to the team. We look forward to supporting your journey toward becoming the specialist pathologists our community relies on.
