A decadent chocolate and raspberry jam cake – bursting with bright red cells in celebration of PathWest’s 20-year journey.
This fun and clever creation was designed to resemble a Pathology Request Form, blending creativity with a celebration of PathWest’s 20-year milestone. The cake featured playful elements such as clinical notes reading ‘double decade-it is’and a test request for ‘platinum levels’ – a witty nod to the platinum 20-year anniversary. With thoughtful details and a great sense of humour, Monica’s cake is both a tribute to pathology and a showcase of creative flair.
Carrie’s cake draws inspiration from the world of forensic pathology, featuring a clever crime scene theme. The centrepiece is a cake designed with chalk-style body outlines, reminiscent of the markings used at crime scenes. Each outline is part of a numbered scene, labelled 1 to 3, adding to the investigative aesthetic. Surrounding the cake are cupcakes topped with red blood cells – a creative nod to the biological side of forensic work. The result is a visually striking and thematically rich tribute to the forensic teams at PathWest.

The arm undergoing venepuncture represents the starting point of testing, where skill, empathy, and care set the tone for accurate outcomes. Featuring 20 handmade vials to mark 20 years of PathWest, the cake honours the dedication of our specimen collection teams.
Hedy’s gluten-free orange cake was thoughtfully designed to celebrate all of PathWest’s departments under the 20-year banner.
